What it does

Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents, powered by OpenAI, runs agents entirely inside AWS and handles state, tool selection and use, code execution and multi-step coordination. It was built jointly by AWS and OpenAI on a customised version of OpenAI's Agents API and is designed for OpenAI models. Developers give each agent its own IAM role, connect tools including MCP servers, add reusable skills and set approval rules for consequential actions, and durable sessions keep messages, tool calls and intermediate results so work can resume later. It entered preview on 29 September 2026 in US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon) and US East (Ohio), with no charge beyond the AWS resources agents use during the preview.
